Jackie O Henderson has marched out of KIIS FM in the middle of The Kyle and Jackie O show, after finding out that the station has the highest gender pay gap disparity across Australian radio. “Southern Cross Austereo has a disgraceful 5.9% pay gap. At Nova and Smooth FM it is even worse, six per cent." Kyle Sandilands told listeners on Tuesday. "But unfortunately, the number one spot is at KIIS FM, – at the top of the tree with a 12% pay gap disparity.” Sandilands, who famously fought for Henderson to secure equal pay on their radio program, then brought on one of the show’s producers Pete Deppeler and another female KIIS FM producer, who revealed she was only being paid half of what Deppeler was. “Are you freaking joking? Why is Peter getting that much money? I’m so angry about that, it makes my blood boil,” Henderson replied. She then left the studios with all her female colleagues. “We’ve all gone,” she said. "We are just here with the fellas. I don’t know whether I am enjoying this, bring the girls back!” Sandilands told listeners. On Tuesday, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency published the gender pay gap for more than 5,000 Australian companies. This was done after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese ordered the information to be made public for the first time ever, so the data can be compared within and across industries. The new data revealed that the national gap for total remuneration sits at 19 per cent and the median Australian female worker is taking home $18,461 less than their male counterpart. Despite a few criticisms on Albanese's decision to publicise this data, Workplace Minister Tony Burke has said that releasing this data is effective. “People on this side know that releasing that sort of data is effective and you will only find in the other side of politics anyone arguing that it is useless,‘’ he said. “The days of secretly paying women less than men are now over.” Images: Kyle and Jacki O Show

Jackie O reveals the "worst diagnosis of my life"

Jackie O Henderson has shared the "worst diagnosis of my life", announcing that she found a lump on her breast. The radio host was joined live on air by the show's resident medical expert Dr Sam Hay, explaining her situation and asking for advice. “There is a small lump there but it doesn’t look like cancer. I think it’s a seborrheic keratosis,” Hay told her after examining the area. “What do I do with it?” she asked him. “That one you can leave and if it’s continuing to get bigger, doctors will freeze it with liquid nitrogen,” he said. While discussing their medical concerns, Jackie O's co-host Kyle Sandilands shared a worry of his own with Dr Hay, asking for advice on a lump that had arisen on his cheek that was “the size of a pea”. “I have a feeling it’s exactly the same thing. The KIIS FM radio host shared the details of her big birthday bash on the Kyle and Jackie O show on Monday morning. Henderson revealed that she had a tarot reader on board who gave readings to her friends, a variety of drinks and all-around good vibes. The party didn't stop there as the group of friends made their way through a series of bars, before heading to a friend's house for an after party. "I had fun," Henderson told co-host Kyle Sandilands and Brooklyn Ross, who also attended the party. "We went to Opera Bar and then Shellhouse... and then a private residence," she said. "We survived Jackie's boat party!" Sandilands quipped. "Your friends are surprisingly good people," he added. Jackie O opens up on loneliness post-divorce

Jackie 'O' Henderson has opened up on being gripped with feelings of loneliness in the years following her divorce. Speaking with fans at Luke McLeod's book launch for Everyday Enlightenment on Thursday night, the 49-year-old admitted she is "desperate" to find love and companionship. After being single for over five years, Jackie said it feels like "something's missing" in her life. "I just really want to find someone. I can't find him and I'm sort of a bit lost at the moment," she said. When Luke asked why she was so desperate to get into a relationship, Jackie said she couldn't quite put her finger on it, but it felt like "a piece" of her was "missing". "I have a lot of love to give or I want that affection, that company. It just feels like there's something missing in my life," she added. Jackie went on to tell her fans that Luke had previously given a piece of advice that "changed my life". He said she was giving off too much "desperate energy", and if she really wanted to attract love in her life, then she needed to be grateful for what she already has. "I said to him, 'How am I meant to change what I want and need? I feel like I need that in my life and I really want that. I can't just switch that off,'" she admitted. Jackie has been adopting Luke's technique, and makes time every day to express gratitude for what she already has, and not for what she's missing. Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O have given away their own tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, to a mum and her nine-year-old daughter, after the duo got scammed out of $1200. Sam, had attempted to purchase the concert tickets for her young daughter Charlie, but instead of getting tickets she got scammed and was left heartbroken. The radio stars were touched by their story, and immediately jumped into action to make the mother-daughter's day better. “Hi Charlie, Kyle and Jackie O have come to the rescue with free concert tickets. We are going to give you our tickets so you can go see her for free," Kyle told the nine-year-old. In a post shared on Instagram, Charlie was filmed bursting into tears when she realised she would be seeing her idol after all. “I couldn’t have a little sweetheart like you be so excited to see her but then have someone steal the tickets. So, you’re going to go see her,” Kyle added. The mother-daughter duo were filmed hugging each other in happiness. Kyle Sandilands has stormed off his hit KIIS FM radio program after an argument with his co-host Jackie O Henderson over Covid-19. Sandilands stormed off just 11 minutes into the show on Tuesday morning, after bringing up that NSW Premier Chris Minns had cancelled his appearance on their show after testing positive to the virus. The argument sparked when Henderson downplayed the seriousness of the virus and said it was "just like the flu". Sandilands hit back saying that Henderson would probably still isolate if she caught the virus, considering how cautious she was in the past. "I'm allowed to change my opinion," Henderson shot back. Sandilands then argued that she should have some "consistency" in her opinions, before declaring that he was going home and storming out of the studio. "Well that escalated quickly," a stunned Henderson said. Not long after their Executive producer Pedro Vitola confirmed that the radio host had gone home. "What's happening today?" Henderson asked. "I'm telling you this full moon, it messes with people," she added referring to what astrologers call the full moon in Gemini, which they believe is a period when people are a bit more restless and rife with misunderstandings. Kyle Sandilands took a savage swipe at 2GB radio host Ben Fordham on Thursday morning, after his KIIS FM show with Jackie O won this year's radio ratings. The Kyle and Jackie O show was ranked the number one breakfast show over Fordham's show five out of seven times in this year's surveys, with Fordham coming in close second with a 16.2 per cent share compared to the duo's 16.3 per cent share. "If you want to know what happened to Ben Fordham, he is underneath us," Sandilands said during his show on Thursday. "It's like having sex with someone and they die. That's Ben. Ben is the dead person." After the savage swipe, Sandilands gave a shout out to all of the employees working with him. "Once again, to our own staff, I've got to thank you all. The Kyle and Jackie O Show has been thrown into disarray after a key player in the production announced their shock resignation live on air. On Friday, one of the show’s producers unexpectedly quit in the middle of the broadcast, shocking the radio hosts. Kyle and Jackie O were presenting their show as normal when their producer Kayla, who uses they/them pronouns, made the bombshell announcement. Upon hearing the news of their departure, Kyle was so shocked by it he spilled the coffee they were handing him onto the computer, short circuiting the system and taking them off the air. “It’s Friday and the radio show is half broken,” Sandilands shared. “We're in a weird studio because I knocked coffee all down the computers. Non-binary Kayla came in and gave me the very sad news,” he later told listeners once the technical difficulties had been resolved. “They're abandoning us to live their own life. As they were handing the coffee over I grabbed it and was in such shock I spilt it all over the equipment.” Sandilands and Henderson said they didn’t know what was going on as equipment kept beeping and going off left, right and centre, and the second studio they were moved to “also failed”. “It wasn’t just you with the coffee Kyle, something crazy is going on here,” Henderson said. “None of our studios work, the sensor machine is beeping … it’s just crazy.” The shocking incident pulled the show off the airwaves for more than an hour, as technicians were called in to fix the coffee-covered equipment. Australian cruise passenger dies during onshore expedition

P&O Cruises have confirmed an Australian passenger has died during an onshore expedition in Vanuatu. The cruise line made the announcement on Wednesday, saying the passenger passed away during a Pacific island stop at Mystery Island, one of the stops included on the Pacific Adventure journey. The passenger's cause of death has not been disclosed. “P&O Cruises Australia can confirm a guest of Pacific Adventure has tragically passed away while in port at Mystery Island, Vanuatu,” a P&O spokesperson told <a href="https://7news.com.au/news/world/po-australia-passenger-dies-ashore-vanuatus-mystery-island-during-pacific-adventure-journey-c-12028678" target="_blank" rel="noopener">7News</a>. “We extend our deepest condolences to their loved ones and are doing everything we can to support them during this difficult time." “As we are working with the relevant authorities and to protect the privacy of the family, it would be inappropriate to comment further." This incident is now the second time a cruise ship passenger has died on Mystery Island in a few months time, with an Australian Carnival Cruise Line passenger dying amid their nine-day South Pacific journey in May, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed. Deborra-Lee Furness has broken her silence for the first time since announcing her and Hugh Jackman were separating after 27 years of marriage. An undercover security guard has revealed to Kyle and Jackie O the item that is most stolen from supermarket shelves. Calling in to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIISFM, the the woman who works as an undercover loss prevention officer for a major supermarket chain asked the radio hosts to guess what item was often targeted by thieves. Kyle guessed shoplifters nicked razors the most, while Jackie O suspected tampons were regularly stolen. They were both incorrect, with the security guard revealing the most stolen item was a hot barbecue chicken. “That’s what getting stolen? A hot chicken?” Jackie exclaimed. “Maybe they’re struggling, I don't know. But with the prices these days, everything is going up,” the woman said. Jackie was intrigued, asking how people can unknowingly smuggle a scalding hot chicken out a supermarket undetected. The guard responded, "Two of the ones that I stopped, [put the chicken] down their pants." She went on to say they put the chooks down their "big, big trackies" to get the item out of the shops. Kyle Sandiland's reveals baby's first word

Kyle Sandilands has revealed his one-year-old son Otto's first word, as he and former Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby gushed over their kids on KIIS FM's The Kyle and Jackie O Show. Sandilands told co-host Jackie O Henderson and Crosby that his son's first and only word so far has been "Dada". "Otto's walking now. He says Dada only, much to his mum's horror because every time I walk into the room he says 'Dada', but he says no other words," the radio shock jock revealed. While Henderson attempted to provide some reassurance for Sandilands' wife Tegan Kynaston, that it's because the "D" sound is easier for young kids to say, Sandilands quipped: "They say who they love the most, I think, first." The topic came up as Sandilands and Crosby were gushing about their kids. "Oh my God, doesn't it change your life," Crosby said earlier in the segment. The former Geordie Shore star has one daughter with her businessman partner Jake Ankers. "It is like every tiny thing that was so boring before is just so much fun again," she added. "Like I used to walk past the park past my house every day right, and I see some swings… well actually I never even realised there was a park there for so long and if I did, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. Jackie O reveals awful nickname she was given in her early career days

Jackie O Henderson has recalled the awful nickname she was given by upper radio management at the start of her career. The 48-year-old started her career in the media after ringing a station to win Guns N' Roses concert tickets, which led to a role answering phones for the station. Chatting candidly on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, she revealed, "I was called "Jackie the Phone Tart'." The nickname was perpetuated by an influx of hate from some radio listeners, particularly boy band fans who mistakenly believed she was sleeping with their idols when they came into the station for interviews. "I'd get all this hate [from fans] because my name was "tart" and they all thought, 'Oh, she's in there making moves, you know, being a sl*t'." "So I changed [my nickname]," added the radio host. Jackie has previously explained that while she was living on the Gold Coast as a teenager, she would call up the local Sea FM station in the early 90s in a bid to score concert tickets from radio host 'Ugly' Phil O'Neil. "I never worked at Sea FM," she said, adding that Ugly Phil took her out "on a date" after asking her to come and visit the radio station and collect the concert tickets she had won. Jackie recalled the pair had only been together for three months before he was offered a radio job in Canberra. "I moved with him because we were in a relationship," she added. Jackie O's candid admission about her wealth

Jackie O Henderson, who is one of the most well-paid women in Australia's entertainment industry, has opened up about how "embarrassed" she feels by the reports of her wealth, and how daunting it is to earn so much. The radio star made the candid admission on Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast, where she shared the “scary” reality of being a self-made female millionaire. “I do sometimes get embarrassed to talk about money. I hate showing off wealth. I’ve always been like that … I want a nice bag, car and house, but I don’t want to flaunt it,” she said. The breakfast host and her co-star Kyle Sandilands were rumoured to earn around $7-8 million each per year, when they renewed their contract for The Kyle and Jackie O show with ARN in 2019. “But [at the same time] I shouldn’t be embarrassed about it, so I am trying to take more ownership of that," she added. Henderson shared her own struggles of navigating conversations around wealth. “And as a man, they’d absolutely be owning that, and as a female, when you’re single, it’s quite scary to earn a lot of money, because a lot of men can be intimidated by that. “And so your instinct is to downplay it for that reason.” She added that although she is grateful for such a successful career, she preferred the "chase" over the destination. “I am grateful for it, I am, but sometimes I think … I wish I was just back in my 20s and trying to buy my first apartment,” she added. “Isn’t that weird? It’s only a thought I had a couple of weeks ago … I don’t know.
